I haven't been as pleasantly surprised by anything Kishi has pulled in years. I never expected a flashback from Hashirama and Madara's childhood, and this flashback has been such a breath of fresh air. You can argue that its weak point is that it largely resolves around solving the chain of hatred, which we've heard about to death. However it's wonderful to learn so much more about the enigmatic figures that Madara and especially Hashirama were. This flashback has served as amazing fleshing out of Hashirama and Madara's characters, and seeing the first stones being placed in regards of the foundation of Konoha is splendid. Kishi always delivers his best when he is enjoying himself, and you clearly see that being the case here. The dialogue and art is inspired. You can draw some real comparisons to the ongoing Juubi fight and this flashback in terms of dialogue, art and storytelling quality. Where the Juubi fight often is lacking in all aspects.
